Two people who fell through the ice on a pond in Shrewsbury were hospitalized Monday, the Shrewsbury Fire Department said.
Around 7:23 a.m., people near Dean Park Pond called the fire department about two people who fell through the icy surface of the pond, the fire department said in a statement.
Shrewsbury Fire and Police and Worcester EMS arrived in the area to find the two people along the shoreline, the release said. Lifeguards helped the two people out of the pond.
“It was determined that the two were ice skating on the pond and fell somewhere near the middle of the pond,” fire officials said.
Both people were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
