Christmas Eve is a great way to spend time with family and friends right before the big holiday.
Whether you’re doing last-minute shopping or trying to figure out if you can get a bus ride over to your mom’s house, it might not be clear if the day before the big party is one of those days that the sites are open or not.
Here’s what you can expect to be open and which locations have different hours on December 24, 2024.

Stock exchange: The New York Stock Exchange will be open and so will the Nasdaq.

Cannabis dispensaries: According to the Cannabis Control Commission, Massachusetts regulators do not identify specific holidays when cannabis dispensaries must close. It is up to the respective cannabis shop whether they decide to open or close on Christmas Eve.

MBTA: The subway, bus and RIDE will operate on a regular schedule

MetroWest RTA: Services will end at 7:30 p.m.
Pioneer Valley Transit Authority: Springfield services end early on 24 December and Northampton routes also end early. A full list of PVTA’s Christmas Eve routes can be found here here.
Worcester RTA: Buses will run on a normal schedule
