Liam Cohen has helped raise the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense in his first season as offensive coordinator. And he’s getting the attention of teams that will need a new coach in 2025.
ESPN’s Peter Schrager reported on “FOX NFL Kickoff” Sunday that Coen is listed as a head coaching candidate.
Aside from helping push the Bucs this year, Coen also had two stints with the Los Angeles Rams working with Sean McVay. He was the wide receivers coach in 2019 when Cooper Kupp had a breakout season when he had 94 catches for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2020 he was the quarterbacks coach and worked closely with Matthew Stafford.
So they cook He spent the 2022 season in Los Angeles after a few seasons at Kentucky as the offensive coordinator.
When asked about his future last week, Coen said it wasn’t on his mind at this point in the season.
There will be teams in need of a new coach after several teams moved on earlier in the season, including the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears.
Coen spent four years at UMass and was considered by many to be the best quarterback in school history. The Minutemen have gone 35-11 in their 46 starts and still hold several passing records.
