Promoter Frank Warren took some serious pain after his fighter Tyson Fury lost to unified heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk by unanimous decision in a rematch in Riyadh on Saturday night.
Fury’s quick exit
Fury then ran out of the ring, not wanting to face the music and put his feet to the fire to be roasted by the media. What does that tell you? If he thought he had won, he would have stuck around and gotten up on his hind legs and whined about it.
The judges got it right, scoring for Usik, 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. I had 10-2 in favor of Usik. Even in close rounds, Fury did nothing but throw backhands and weak jabs.
Warren was “flabbergasted” by the score from the two judges, who had Usyk (23-0, 12 KOs) going every round from six onward against former WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). Another judge has beaten Fury in just one of the last six rounds.
I watched the fight and I had Usyk clean every round from the fifth round. It seemed easy to get a hit, as Fury’s reflexes seemed to be affected and he was doing next to nothing offensively. He looked afraid to strike for fear of being countered by Usik’s sniping left hand.
The once lean Fury who beat Wladimir Klitschko in his prime in 2015 is gone tonight. In his place was a lanky, 40-year-old-looking heavyweight who was unable to pull the trigger on punches.
The gypsy king fought exactly the way the then 39-year-old Vladimir fought nine years ago. Vlad couldn’t pull the trigger that night in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Fury was the same tonight. He was mentally closed,
She was speechless
‘I was speechless. They gave him (Fury) four rounds out of twelve, which is impossible,” promoter Frank Warren said. TNT Sports Boxing, is complaining about its fighter Tyson Fury, who lost on the scorecard to the unified heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk in a rematch in Riyadh.
“I know I’m biased, but one judge didn’t give him a single round from the sixth round on.” How can that be? That is impossible. Same with the other judge here. He gave him one round of the last six. Same with this guy. That’s crazy.
“I am calm, composed. I don’t scream and shout. That’s nonsense. Everyone in that front row over there. Oscar De La Hoya and I beat him (Fury) by three or four rounds. It’s Oscar and he’s neutral. He won only one round on two judges’ sheets from the sixth round onwards. I mean, what fight were they watching?” Warren said, criticizing the judges for not giving his fighter Fury the win.
