Tonight DAZN PPV The joint fight between Serhii Bohachuk and Ishmael Davis has a great chance to steal the show from the Tyson Fury vs. Alexander Usyk 2 rematch in the main event at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Bohachuk-Davis: Steal the show?
Former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) had what many believe was the fight of the year in his last contest against Vergil Ortiz Jr. on August 10th. Bohachuk knows only one way to fight: non-stop attack. In contrast, the title credits of Fury-Usik 2 could end up being a chess match without the drama.
To keep the ticket, Bohachuk and Davis will need to bring excitement to the fans who book the event live on DAZN PPV. The undercard is absolutely terrible, and this IS the only good fight except for the main event. That one might not be great if Fury tackles like a bear and Ussick’s boxes. Bohachuk-Davis is going to be a real fight, and it’s practically guaranteed to be a knockout.
Davis upset Bohachuk?
Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) will fight more aggressively, knowing that this is his big chance to keep Turki Alalshikha on the cards. He knows that if he wins this match against Bohachuk, he will get another nice payday.
Bohachuk vs. Davis is a WBC eliminator for the 154 lb title. The winner will be mandatory champion Sebastian Fundora. However, he is unlikely to get a title shot against the WBC belt holder as Errol Spence Jr. is expected to fight in early 2025, and he could choose to face interim champion Vergil Ortiz Jr.
However, whoever emerges victorious in tonight’s fight between Bohachuk and Davis will ultimately get a shot at a world title, either in 2025 or 2026.
“I have a feeling that this one will start from the first round.” Bohachuk will pick up where he left off when he fought Vergil Ortiz (August 10). It might have been the fight of the year. “That was fantastic,” Ade Oladipo said DAZN Boxingtalking about Serhii Bohachuk at the weigh-in for his fight Saturday night against Ishmael Davis.
Bohachuk will force Ishmael to fight more aggressively than he normally does, as he will be missed throughout the fight. Davis uses a three-step drop after throwing punches or when being chased, but that approach won’t work against Bohachuk as it will cut across the ring, forcing him to fight.
The normal jump and clinch that Davis uses won’t work well if he tries that tactic tonight because Bohachuk hits opponents well when they try to grab him. He is also good at fighting while being held. Davis may not last long if he chooses a different strategy in this fight. Again, this is an important fight for Davis, and he has to give it his all if he wants to win. They won’t win by outplaying Bohachuk. That’s what he said he was going to try.
Bohachuk Favored
“It’s still a VBC final eliminator. This is one of the easier choices. A lot of people thought that Bohachuk beat Virgil Ortiz. “I love Bohachuk in this fight,” said Dan Rafael BetUs. “He has 24 wins, 23 of them by knockout. The only guy that went with him was Virgil Ortiz.
“He had a knockout loss a few years ago (against Brandon Adams on March 4, 2021). Bohachuk wins this fight. I think he knocked out his opponent (Davis). I think he wins. I think he will show his stuff and put himself in a position to fight for the title.
“While I give Ishmael a lot of credit for taking this fight on short notice and being well compensated for it, I love Bohachuk in this fight.
Davis is fortunate to not only get the fight after a 12-round split decision loss to Josh Kelly on September 21st, but is also fighting in a WBC 154lb title eliminator. If he can win this fight, he will fight for the world title and get a seven-figure payday.
“Ishmael Davis took this fight on very short notice. I think it’s 10 days, if that. He is a British level fighter. He has one loss. He’s not a big shot. There are no major wins or mid-major wins on his record. I’m not saying he’s not good, but he’s never done it before. “He doesn’t have a lot of pinching power and he takes the fight in short order,” Rafael said.
