The capital of Massachusetts is home to one of the best ice skating rinks in the country.
The Boston Common Frog Pond ranked #14 on Yelp’s list “The 25 Best Ice Skating Rinks in the United States and Canada”.
Yelp created the list by identifying businesses in the ice skating category and then ranking those sites based on various factors, including overall volume and review ratings. All businesses were marked as open on Yelp as of November 21, 2024.
Skating on Boston’s Common Frog Pond has been a beloved tradition in the city for decades, with the ice rink officially debuting in 1996, according to the pond. web site.
This year, the ice rink is open Skating season 2024-2025 from November 30 to March 10, 2025.
Skating hours are from Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Ticket prices are based on skater height. Those larger than 58 inches pay $10, while those under 58 inches are free. Ticket sales end 30 minutes before the track closes.
People can bring their own skates or pay $15 for adults and $10 for children. Skaters can buy a locker for $7, get their skates sharpened for $12 a pair, or get help skating for $18 an hour.
The Frog Pond ice rink is located on the Beacon Street side of the Boston Common. It will close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, which is a Tuesday, and at 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, which is also a Tuesday.
The Frog Pong Skating Spectacular will have performances at 3pm and 5.30pm on New Year’s Eve.
There will be no skating on Christmas Day and the rink will be open regular hours on New Year’s Day, which is Wednesday.
