Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2’s undercard received a lot of criticism from fans for not featuring the quality fights that the average non-British fan wants to watch on December 21.
The only bout of the entire five bouts featuring world-class fighters with title potential is this one:
– Serhii Bohachuk vs. Israel Madrimov
Where are the stars?
This fight is the ONLY one on the undercard that piques the interest of boxing fans. Understandably, promoters want to stack undercards with fighters that will drive PPV sales in their countries.
They also want to help promote these guys to sell them to the local public to turn them into ticket sellers, but no one on the undercard is going anywhere except to have a career floundering at the domestic level as a junk-food party that is immediately subsequently forgotten by fans,
The Disappointing undercard fights
– Moisje Itauma vs. Demsey McKean
– Johnny Fisher vs. Dave Allen
– Dennis McCann vs. Peter McGrail
– Isaac Lowe vs. Lee McGregor
I view these fighters as disreputable and unworthy of being on His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s prestigious December 21st card as they provide NOTHING attractive to watch for fans outside the UK. These are not the fights American fans want to watch. None of these are worth watching from my perspective, and there is no interest.
It’s unclear if the promoters talked to Turki to ask him to put these fights on his card or if he wanted them. I honestly can’t believe he would intentionally ask for any of these fights to be included in his December 21st event, for obvious reasons. These are all low-level fights that do not generate interest.
The Turk would do the fans a huge favor if he moved these four ground fights to the back of his hand and threw in two or three solid fights involving must-watch talent.
