Kyle Teel I had a normal afternoon the day it was finally negotiated by the Boston Red Sox. He was going to go to a train when his phone rang.
“And they pretty much let me know they changed me,” Teel said during an appearance on 670 The Score’s “Bernstein & Harris Show.”” And at first, it was a total shock, just because I didn’t see it coming. And as it settled in, I would say the main emotions I felt were being surprised and excited for this opportunity.”
Teel was one of four prospects sent to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Garrett Crochet. The catch prospect was regarded as Boston’s catcher of the future and was on track to make his Major League Baseball debut in the near future after being promoted to Triple-A Worcester last year. He slashed .255/.374/.343 with two homers, three doubles and 18 RBIs in 28 games with the WooSox.

While Teel, who was part of the Red Sox’s “Big Three” with Marcelo Mayer i Roman Antoniwon’t play for the Red Sox, he’s focused on making an impact in Chicago.
“I came in excited and I have goals, big goals” he said. “So I’m really excited to come in and help create a winning culture and that’s where my mind is right now.”
The White Sox are coming off a 121-loss season, setting a new MLB record for most losses in a season, previously held by the 1962 New York Mets. It is unclear whether Teel will begin the 2025 season with the White Sox, but will continue to develop as he looks to become a prominent part of Chicago’s future.
