Smethwick hit and run: Two-year-old boy killed after collision involving stolen Porsche

A two-year-old boy was killed in the attack crash which includes stolen Porsche Smethwick.

The collision happened on Dartmouth Road in Smethwick shortly before 11pm on Saturday, West Midlands Police he said.

Four adults and one child were rushed to the hospital, where the two-year-old boy died.

A 29-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man remain in a serious condition, while the other man and woman, both in their 30s, are described as stable.

Police said the driver of a gray Porsche Cayenne fled the scene after crashing into a Toyota Auris carrying four adults and a boy.

Checks on the Porsche also revealed it had been stolen earlier this month, police added.

The road was closed in both directions while officers examined the scene, but has since reopened.

The police investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes said: “Our thoughts remain with the little boy’s family at this extremely difficult time.

“I would urge the Porsche driver to do the right thing and come and talk to us. They made the wrong decision to run away and I am now asking them to make the right one.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash cam footage to get in touch.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101 or email SCIU@westmidlands.police.uk, quoting log 4421 of December 14. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
