Jaime Munguia was surprisingly knocked out by Bruno Surace, a fighter with just four knockouts, on Saturday night in the sixth round of their bout at Caliente Stadium in Tijuana, Mexico.

Canelo Comparison
What made this knockout of Surace (26-0-2, 5 KOs) even more impressive was that he had to get off the deck in the second round to come back to KO Munguia with one punch in the sixth round.
What does that say about Canelo Alvarez? Even he couldn’t knock out Mungia (44-2, 35 KOs) when they fought on May 4 in Las Vegas. Canelo defeated Muguya by unanimous decision over 12 rounds and never came close to knocking him out.
Losing in front of his hometown fans in Tijuana, Mexico must be a bitter pill for Munguia to swallow because everyone saw what happened. His popularity will now decline in Mexico.
Berlanga’s plans failed
Edgar Berlanga took the news of Munguia’s loss quite hard. He was hoping to fight him next in the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico PPV match. Berlanga complained that Munguia messed up the bag, which is a fair statement.
Surace would knock out Berlanga because of the way he fought tonight. He would make it easy for him as he did for Mungui.
A fight between them on PPV would be impossible to sell, as both are losing. It would be impossible to sell, especially when one of them didn’t even try to win, but just came to survive.
What New York native Berlanga needs to do is call up Surace, and if he can’t get him, he’s going up against Caleb Plant. I have no bags for Berlanga. Canelo won’t fight him again, and Munguia certainly won’t either.
SMH!!!! Mungia fucked the bag !!!!!!
