Sydney Sweeney has taken a stand against body shamers with a harsh stance Instagram videocombining screenshots of cruel online comments with footage of her intense training sessions for her the upcoming role of boxing legend Christy Martin.
In a video released on Friday (December 13), the Emmy-nominated actress began the clip by calling out the toxic criticism surrounding her body, garnering dozens of scathing comments that range from insulting to downright humiliating.
“She’s broken? Stung by a wasp’s nest? Dive into a pool full of donuts and chips?” one person wrote, while another added: “Without the art (makeup, filters and photoshop) she’s really ugly!”
Someone else commented: “She’s extremely average, which is why she always makes sure her breasts are the first thing to enter a room.”
“Did she play Miss Piggy live?” stabbed another and someone called her “Pillsbury Dough-Girl”.
“Great rack, total butterface,” read one.
The video also included clips of Sweeney training as he prepares for his portrayal of the former world boxing champion. Her fitness routine includes intense workouts designed to physically transform her for the role.
People in the comments section sounded off in support of Sweeney, telling her to ignore the haters.

Another added: “She’s so beautiful you need to get your eyes checked.”
In October, White Lotus the actor shared Instagram photos of her transformation into Martin after paparazzi photos from the set surfaced. “Well, the cat’s out of the bag thanks to some hooves in the bush, so here goes [behind-the-scenes] from my film I’m currently working on,” she wrote.

The Instagram carousel displayed Euphoria star has dark brown hair with bangs instead of her signature blonde locks, along with photos that highlight her toned arm muscles. Sweeney will play the boxing legend, who dominated women’s boxing in the 1990s and 2000s.
In the previous one Instagram post released on May 8, Sweeney announced that she will play Martin in a biopic directed by David Michôd. In an interview with Deadlineshe noted that the role was something she was dying to sink her teeth into.
“Christina’s story is not easy, it is physically and emotionally demanding, there is a lot of weight to carry. But I like to challenge myself,” she explained, adding that she “wanted to get back in the ring, train and transform her body.”
She noted that she was drawn to the role because Martin “not only legitimized women’s boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes and fought through emotional, physical and financial abuse.”
Martin – known as the “Miner’s Daughter” – became the first female boxer to sign with legendary promoter Don King, amassing an impressive 49-10-3 record during her professional career. In 2020, Martina’s groundbreaking achievements were recognized with her induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
