Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’ latest choice of opponent for his March 1 fight, Lamont Roach Jr., is another disappointing pick in a long line of lackluster fighters for the Baltimore native. The fight will be shown on PBC Prime Video PPV at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Not this guy again
Fans were hoping for a miracle, and Tank surprised them with the holiday announcement that he had picked Edwin De Los Santos, Raymond Muratala or Shakur Stevenson. That would go against Tank Davis’ cherry picking throughout his career.
Tank would have been good to the fans if he had canceled the Roach fight and replaced Shakur in his place because that match would have been a straight shootout.
These are just a few of the many desirable fighters fans want Gervont to fight, rather than the 29-year-old Roach, who will weigh in at 130 to fight for the WBA lightweight title.
Super featherweight Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) is NOT the type of opponent fans want Tanka (30-0, 28 KOs) to fight. This is more of the same safe picks people have seen from the 30-year-old Davis during his 11-year pro career.
Although the Davis-Roach fight was pushed back from its original date of December 14th, fans were hoping that Tank would cancel it due to the negative reviews it received. That’s why today’s announcement that the fight will be moved to March 1 has angered many fans who don’t want to see it.
