“I didn’t go to court”: Haney drops the lawsuit against Garcia today

Devin Hanney denied attending court today for his claim of abuse against Ryan Garcia in their April 20 fight.

Claim reports

There was a report earlier today that Hanay (31-0, 15 KOs) attended court in the morning to file a 12-page “battery and bodily harm” lawsuit against superstar Ryan. However, Hanei, 26, denies going to court.

Devin is not saying whether he intends to drop the lawsuit or delay it until the end, hoping to get him satisfied for what happened that night seven months ago at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

It’s a night former two-league world champion Hannay would rather forget. He took a real beating from Garcia, who dropped him three times and probably would have knocked him out if he had put his foot on the gas.

It looked like Ryan enjoyed the beating he took on the young phenomenon, wanting to prolong the suffering as long as possible. He smiled as he defeated poor Haney in that fight. Towards the end of the fight, Garcia showed a glimmer of compassion towards Devin, looking at Bill and wanting to throw in the towel to save his son.

Fans would obviously prefer Hannay to focus on the Garcia rematch and prove he’s better than him in the ring, not in court. It is perceived as a weak move.

“Big News” Teasing

Papa Haney, Bill, talked about it “Big News” coming soon for Devin with his comeback fight. This will look bad if Haney’s next opponent is a ham & egger and not a top 10 contender or world champion. If they throw out a no-brainer as Devin’s opponent, Bill is going to look stupid standing there.

Hannay has the hype to get a direct shot at one of the champions at 140 or 147 for his next fight. He doesn’t have to line up and win the title like most contenders, but his confidence may not allow him to take that risk. Garcia may have dented his confidence with the three knockdowns he scored that night 237 days ago on April 20.

“While they talk, we work.” While they doubt, we deliver. Self made. Self pay. We don’t answer to anyone. Big news coming soon,” Bill Haney said on X, referring to Devin.
