Washington – Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is in the hospital after suffering an injury on an overseas trip to Luxembourg, her office said Friday.
“While traveling with a bipartisan congressional delegation to Luxembourg to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi suffered an injury during an official engagement and was hospitalized for evaluation,” spokesman Ian Krager said in a statement. . “Speaker Emerita Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.”
The nature of the injury was not immediately clear. Krager said Pelosi “looks forward to returning home to the US soon” and continues to work from the hospital.
Pelosi, 84, served as House Democratic leader for 20 years, including two stints as speaker, before stepping aside two years ago He won another term in Congress in November and remains an influential figure in the party.
