Two people have been arrested after a fairground Christmas ride “fell to the ground” causing injuries in Birmingham city centre.
Two women were taken to the hospital after the City Star Flyer ride “Failure and Fall” in the Hundredth Square on Thursday eveningthe other 11 paramedics were taken by the doctors and released on the scene.
West Midlands Police said two men, aged 55 and 21, were arrested at the scene on Thursday evening on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and murder. Both remain in custody.
A police cordon is in place around the ride, which is 55 meters high, a steel wheel and a second ride in the street on Friday morning.
Louise Brown, who works for the BBC in Birmingham, suffered injuries to her face, legs and arms. He said: “This can never happen – we are shocked and all I can think about is if my kids do it over.
“We were in that game and then it just fell to the ground. First it went back, which I’ve never seen before.”
He added that he was riding “up quite high” before he fell and “felt pain”.
Emergency services were called at 7.30pm and two ambulances and five paramedics were sent to the scene.
In a statement, West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “On arrival crews found 13 patients.
“Two women were treated by ambulance staff for serious and non-believed injuries and taken to Metropolitan University Hospital. Nine women and three men were assessed by medics before being given self-care and released to the scene.”

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said: “We are aware of the concern about this matter and are working with the appropriate authorities. We also have technicians attending the site today. An inquiry will be carried out to determine what happened.
Danter Attractions, which manages the ride, declined to comment when contacted about the incident.
