Passengers from some airports in all the United States no longer have to remove shoes during regular preflight safety controls, two sources familiar with the change confirmed on Monday to CBS News.
The change seems to be a phase approach, according to the sources and the first airports where the No-SHOES Expiration requirement includes: Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, Cincinnati International Airport/Northern Kentucky, Portland International Airport, International Philadelphia Airport and Piedmont International Airport in Carolina in the North Carolina.
However, CBS News correspondents at Los Angeles International Airport and Laguardia Airport in New York City reported on Monday night that other passengers had not to remove their shoes.
Travelers with Tsa precheck I no longer had to remove the footwear.
The change occurs in the midst of reports that the transport security administration has let the security rule expire for the rule of rule through the rule TSA projection lines.
In a statement to CBS News Monday, TSA said that the Agency and the National Security Department “are always exploring new and innovative ways to improve the passenger experience and our strong security posture.”
