Florida Attorney General Float the idea after Governor Ron Desantis asked state legislators to propose potential places to temporarily host migrants in the mass deportation efforts of President Donald Trump
Florida could soon contain immigrants without documentation in a place called “Aligador Alcatraz” due to its proximity to the dangerous region of Everglades of the Sunshine State.
Donald Trump’s mass deportation effort has led to a large number of immigrants without documentation into Immigration and customs app Detention centers (Ice), causing “infernal” overcrowding and conditions, as described by a non -profit group.
In a post on social media on Thursday, Moldy Attorney General James Uthmeier requested that the so -called “Aligator Alcatraz” detention center be built in Everglades National Park.
Uthmeier said that the “virtually abandoned” Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, located in the Big Cypress’s wildlife management area, would be ideal for a detention center. Uthmeier added that he devised the idea after Governor Ron Desantis commissioned state legislators to find possible locations for temporary immigration detention centers.

“I think this is the best,” Uthmeier said in the video.
The head of the State Act described the potential “Caimà Alcatraz” as an “efficient” and “low cost” opportunity due to its location surrounded by the Everglades. The state should not “invest so much on the perimeter.”
“If people go out, they don’t expect them very much than the alligans and the pythons,” according to Uthmeier. “None place to go, nowhere to hide.”
Uthmeier said that the installation could be in operation within 30 to 60 days after construction and could contain up to 1,000 people.
“This presents a great opportunity for the state of Florida to work with the counties of Miami-Dade and Collier,” said the Attorney General.
Uthmeier did not provide a potential cost to convert the old installation into an immigration arrest center. The site was originally built in 1968 and called Everglades Jetport, but never ended due to environmental problems. Marjory Stoneman Douglas, the famous environmentalist, started Friends of the Everglades in 1969, helping to successfully defeat the end of the Jetport.
According to its website, Miami-Dade County owns the site, which has a track and is mainly used for pilot training. Many environmental groups are already calling for disanthament to shoot this plan. Eve Samples, executive director of Friends of the Everglades, told WPTV that he believes it is a horrible idea, mainly because of where they want to build.
“It really draws you attention as a clueless idea that was out of the fist,” Samples told the starting. “This place is really important for the friends of the Everglades. It is actually the reason why the Friends of the Everglades was founded by Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 1969, to stop what would have been the largest airport in the world to be built right there. It is really ironic that the State Attorney General is characterized as an abandoned place with great extent. 1969, 1970.”
He added that the same reasons why the original installation was not completed in the 1960’s, will be the reasons why it does not end now.
“Consider what could happen if we carry a 1,000 beds, all the auxiliary development you would need,” said Samples. “We call the Governor to stop this proposal right now. It is a terribly bad idea and could completely harm any evil credibility that remains.”
