Former world time trial champion Rohan Dennis he pleaded guilty to the charge after his wife’s death.

Dennis, 34, faced charges of causing death by dangerous driving and an aggravated charge of driving without due care.

Those charges were not pursued following a plea deal and Dennis pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to a charge of aggravated assault likely to cause harm.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide District Court on January 24 to be charged with sentencing at a later date.

Hoskins represented Australia in the track team pursuit at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics, as well as being part of the team that won the 2015 world championships.

The couple married in 2018 and have two children.

Dennis retired at the end of the 2023 season after a career that saw him win two world time trial titles as well as an Olympic bronze medal in the same event in Tokyo.

He added silver in the team pursuit in London and wore the yellow jersey in the Tour de France after winning the first time trial in 2015.
