Seattle – Rookie Marcelo Mayer beat his fourth Homer al The 3-1 Victory of Red Sox on the sailors Here at T-Mobile Park on Wednesday.
But it was not the Swing at Mayer’s house what reminded Trevor Story to one of his former teammates all-star in Colorado.
It was a launch that Mayer, a short natural that has been playing in the third base with Alex Bregman wounded, made through the diamond in the fourth post that made Randy Arozya a half step to the first base.
“I was thinking there at the last post that his baseball clock reminds me of Nolan Arenado,” said Story. “Get a guy halfway through, though he can get rid of it quickly. But he only has this good baseball instinct. It’s soft there, making each play you need to do, hand, in hand, lasts in the hills … It was fun to see it.
The story added about the release to get Arozarena, “took a kind of two hats, but he put enough to get it at halfway through.”
After making a ball to his right, Mayer also made a long and strong release at the first base to get Raleigh to finish the eighth post.
Story and Arenado were combined for 44 defensive strokes saved in 2019. Arenado, a seven-time set that won the NL gold glove in the third 10 years in a row (2013-22), had 23 defensive runs saved that season while the story had 21.
“It’s a pretty good compliance considering that it is one of the best third -party bases of all time,” Mayer said about the story that is mentioned with the same breath as Arenado. “I know that Trevor played with him for a long time. So to say, I really appreciate it.”
Manager Alex Cora said Mayer participated at work on Tuesday.
“Very specific to what he wanted to do, doing in his training,” said Cora. “Only some things I felt I didn’t do before.”
“The beauty of baseball is that there are always things to work,” Mayer said.
Mayer explained what he did during his first job.
“Try to return to my base of doing what I do very well, that it stays through basketball,” Mayer said. “So I went in early, I worked with some of the coaches and I have been very good since then.”
