No verdict was reached on Monday at the Karen Read trial on the second day of the jury’s deliberations.
Monday marked the first full day of deliberations in the case after more than 30 days of witness over eight weeks. The jurors will resume their deliberations on Tuesday morning at 9 am
The jury discussed for about seven hours on Monday and two hours on Friday.
They can deliberate during the time it takes to reach a unanimous verdict. At the first trial of Read last year, the jurors deliberated for about five days before Cannone declared a Mistial.
Read, 45, she is accused of murder of the second degree, slaughter while operating under the influence and leaving an accident causing injuries or death at the death of her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’KEEFE.
Prosecutors say they read his SUV at O’KEEEFE, and then let him die in the snow outside the house of a Boston police partner in Canton on January 29, 2022, Read’s defense insisted that there is no collision and others are responsible for O’KEEEFE’s death.
