“I’m going to tonight, I knew my training was really good for me, and I knew I could do something special,” said Mcintosh public broadcasting of the CBC.
“So, I can make my training in doing so – I didn’t think my training be 54.1, but I’m really happy with that.”
At the Olympic Games Paris, McIntosh became the first athlete from Canada to win three gold medals on one Olympic Games.

But things felt differently at the trials in Canada.
“I just felt so strong, and that was never the case in 400 free style for me. It’s the last 100, it always really hurts.
“But I turned over on 200 and I was just a cruise, so I knew I had a strong swimming. I could tell a crowd and I knew how they were probably close to the record.
“So I really tried to push that last for them.”
