Holyoke – Gregory Shaw dominated the mound on Tuesday night to help lead the Valley Blue Sox Up to a home opening day against Newport’s gulls.
Shaw reached six batters in five jobs and allowed a blow and two walks.
The initial pitcher took control of the game, which can be attributed to its determination and attitude to improve each game.
“I think I could do a better job with two strikes,” he said. “I left one of those good successes [Newport] He had, he was in a two -way count.
“I think I can improve it, but also commanding and whipping the area.”
Shaw’s performance is not a surprise, as he was named All-Star pitcher from the 2024 NECBL. Last year, he started six games in Valley with 30 tickets.
In 2024 All-Star recorded a 2-0 record with 20 attacks and an impressive was 2.34. Endy Morales, Blue Sox’s new main coach, was impressed with Shaw’s performance.

The Senior also played its NCAA 2025 season for the Uconn Huskies. Shaw got a 4-0 record this year with the Huskies, where he also recorded an era 4.45 with 43 attacks.
Shaw maintains the strength of the mound with his strong command in the NCAA and Necl.
The gulls took Valley from the Playoffs of Necbl 2024 last season. And Shaw emphasized that it was great to defeat the defending camps, but it has a goal this season to keep it focused.
He wants to go out and compete every day for his colleagues and coaches.
“I just want to get out of there and compete,” he said in 2024 All-Star. “Wins and losses will be taken care of whenever we compete every day. I think we will put ourselves in a good position to win.”
