The DAZN PPV The rematch between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usyk is scheduled for December 21 in Saudi Arabia, and Gypsy King is determined to avenge his only career loss. Promoter Eddie Hearn, who previously supported the Ukrainian, has now changed course. Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn admitted he has changed and explained the potential impact of a Fury win.
“If Fury wins – and I’m actually leaning towards him, I’ve changed a bit – Fury could fight Anthony Joshua for the unified world heavyweight title,” he said. “The greatest fight ever in sports.” Wembley, Riyadh, wherever.”
This dramatic change comes just weeks after Hearn openly stated that Usyk’s skill, IQ and previous triumph made him the logical favourite: “I have no idea how to beat Usyk, but Tyson Fury is a very smart fighter. He’s got smart people in the corner, but also, from an IQ level in the box, he’s up there. Unfortunately, Oleksandar Usik too. So my money, especially when he wins the first fight, will always be on Alexander Usyk. My heart wants to see Tyson Fury win… I would love to see him do it, but I see him as an underdog in this fight.”
Hearn’s comments come after Fury confirmed a potential trilogy with Usyk, contingent on him winning the upcoming rematch.
