Wife of the detained Columbia The University graduated student Mahmoud Khalil accused the federal immigration officers on purpose by denying the request that his husband attends his first child in order to suffer the family.
Noor Abdalla said in a statement that she had to give birth to a boy on Monday without her husband next to her. She said that ICE refused a request for providing a temporary release of Khalil from the detention center in Louisiana so could travel New York for baby birth.
“This was the purposeful decision of the ice to do me, Mahmoud, and our son suffers,” Abdall said in the statement, adding how her husband was “unfairly” detained.
“Ice and Trump Management stole these precious moments from our family in an attempt to silence Mahmoud support for Palestinian Freedom, “she added.
The message asking for a comment remained with the Ice officials.
Khalil is a legal permanent American resident and a graduate student who has passed a spokesman for campus activists during large demonstrations in Colombia against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and war in Gaza.
The Federal Government claims Khalil is a national security risk. The Immigration Judge in Louisiani ruled earlier this month that the Government’s claim was that Khalil’s presence in the United States appointed “potentially serious foreign policy” satisfied deportation requirements.
Khalil lawyer said that the verdict will appeal to the Committee for immigration appeals.
