A 20 -year -old man accused of carrying a rifle in a duffle bag while walking around Mattapan was arrested on Sunday afternoon after a “violent struggle,” said Boston police.
The man, Kesner Forestdale, Dorchester, faces a letthaia of charges, including bringing a public -loaded rifle and assault and drummer to a police officer, Police said in a statement.
Boston police say there were several active firearms investigations involved in Forestdale, who had several weapons. The officers saw Forestdale wearing a black duffel bag in the Harvard area and Standish streets in Mattapan on Sunday afternoon.
Police watched Forestdale and later detained him near Harvard and Bernard. The officers tried to punch Duffle’s bag, at which time Forestdale tried to flee, the police said.
The officers detained Forestdale, but a “violent struggle” took place, according to the statement. Forestdale “violently pushed one of the officers on his face and continued to resist,” said police.
Once he was handcuffed, officers recovered a black rifle, later identified as Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22, with 22 rounds in Duffel’s bag magazine. As they sought the bag, the officers also found another gun, a Springfield Armory XD9 with sixteen seven in the magazine and multiple drug -plastic bags, according to the statement.
It is expected that Forestdale will be tried in the Boston Municipal Court in Dorchester for allegations of illegal possession of a firearm, which will carry a public loaded rifle, illegal possession of ammunition without a FID card, possession with the intention of distributing class A drugs, possession with the intention of distributing class B drugs, resisting the arrest and assault and assault on a police officer. It also faces two counts each of illegal possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a large power supply device.
