On Thursday afternoon Malcolm Fry and Marcos Days of the New England visited Harmony Grove Elementary School in Framingham.
The event was part of the program “One Region, many roots” of the club that hosts clinics from different communities in the area.
Many of the school students are Brazilians and Fry and Diats are Portuguese speakers. Fry is from groton while days is from Brazil.
The two players led a football skills clinic with the students and also asked questions. Students also received “a region, many roots” with the eastern white pine and took photos and received autographs from the players.
“I think it’s really important because I was one of those kids not long ago,” said Fry. “I can remember being like them and just wanting to play all the time.” I know many of them ask me, “Oh, can I be professional, can I be a professional?” And it is important to give them an example that you can make a dream come true. I only have one explosion just playing and passing with them. “
The 19 -year -old Fry recalled visits to his community of players of the revolution in the past.
“I think my favorite part about being here is trying to imagine -me as one of these children and remember how special it was to me when players like [Andrew] Farrell, and I remember that Scotty Caldwell would do things like that day, “said Fry.” I would always look at them and ask if I could do it myself. My most favorite is just seeing them and remembering what they were like. “
