Mansfield police search for ‘wannabe Juan Soto’ who destroyed mailboxes with bat

Mansfield police are hoping the public can provide them with information about a man they say destroyed several mailboxes in East Mansfield with a baseball bat overnight Saturday.

Officers spent Sunday morning reporting damaged mailboxes along a portion of East Street east of where the street joins Route 106. Mansfield police wrote in a Facebook post Sunday.

“Victim video shows would-be Juan Soto working on his off-season swing after getting out of a vehicle and destroying the mailbox around 1 a.m. this morning,” police wrote in a Facebook post.

The post is about professional baseball player Juan Soto, who is currently the subject of many rumors in the baseball world due to his current status as a free agent.

Anyone with a mailbox damaged last night should call the Mansfield police front desk at 508-261-7300 ext. 8 to speak with Officer DiMascio. Anyone who has video of the suspect, who may have witnessed something last night or has information about the incidents is asked to email Officer DiMascio at ddimascio@mansfieldma.com.
