When Carrie Underwood recorded the NFL themed song “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night”, he probably never imagined that no one would use him to make an audition for “American Idol”. But in the episode of the Sunday night singing competition, a hopeful “idol” called Yani did this, surprising the jury with his choice of unconventional songs.
“I will sing a song that is maybe familiar,” he mocked. “It’s quite deep and we’ll only see how you take it.”
Judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Underwood themselves laughed when they then realized what Yani was on sale.
“I didn’t see it,” Richie admitted.
“You are smart,” said Underwood. “You are like” what haven’t heard yet? What would be very different? “”
Bryan called the “theatrical strength” performance and voted against sending Yani to Hollywood, but his colleagues disagreed, and the novelty of the performance finally benefited the singer.
“I don’t know if you’re right for the program, but I can’t say no to your voice,” said Underwood.
“It’s so far in the left field, but you’re so cursed,” Richie added.
The Sunday theme song was a suitable option for Sunday Night’s “American Idol” episode, which revealed the final auditions of season 23.
“I have been waiting all day for Sunday night, and this is the best Sunday night,” said Yani.
