Trois -rivieres, qc – the Worcester Railers HC (32-27-2-4 70pts) demolished the Trois-Rivières Lions (41-14-6-2, 90pts) on Friday night by a final score of 3-2 in front of a crowd of 2,397 at Colisée Vidéotron.
The Railers are back in the ice at the Colisée Vidéotron on Saturday, March 29 at 3 pm.
Lincoln Hatten (1-0-1) scored the only goal of the first period, putting Worcester ahead of 1-0. Pito Walton (1-1-2) began the second punctuation period, doing it 2-0 in favor of Worcester.
Trois-Rivières would tie the score 2-2 in the second period with goals by Nicolas Guay (1-1-2) and Jacob Novak (1-0-1). Neither team would score in third place, bringing the game to extension, where Anthony Repaci (1-0-1) scored the game winner for Worcester.
The railways hit first tonight, while Lincoln Hatten (8th) buried a rebound on Luke Cavallin’s platform, putting Worcester ahead of 1-0 in the first period.
Hatten was the first scorer of the first period, as Michael Bullion saved the nine lion’s shots, keeping them out of the board. Worcester beat Trois-Rivières 11-9 in the first.
Railways maintained pressure over their advantage until 2-0. Pito Walton (2nd) scored his first goal as a railway in a four to four sequence after a rough call to Griffin Loughran and Jakov Novak.
The Lions responded with the attached goals. Lions’s first goal was from Nicolas Guay (12th), followed by Jakov Novak (21st). The shots favored Worcester 10-7 in the second period.
The third period was a paralyzation despite multiple opportunities for power play at both ends of the ice. Neither team would find the winning goal of the game before the horn sounds, giving rise to overtime for the seventh time between these two teams this season. The shots favored the Worcester 9-5 in the third period.
Worcester went to the penalty penalty in the extension after a penalty of Jordan Kaplan at only 1:04 until the extension period. The Railers kept their lions off the marking sheet, as Michael Bullion made four savings in the overtime.
It took only one shot by Worcester to the extension to seal the game, as Rebaci scored the winner of the game, bringing the Railers to the victory 3-2.
The shots favored Trois-Rivières in extension 4-1 and favored Worcester in the party, 31-25.
