One of the largest stars in university basketball (male or female) is made for the games of the second season in the Mada of March Tournament.
USC JUJU WATKINS SOPHOMOR Suffered an ACL torn in the first quarter of Monday night on the state of Mississippi and undergoing surgery, Shams Charania de Espn Report.
The injury occurred while Watkins drove to the basket on a fast pause, with a knee that contacted a defender.
The USC star had obvious pain and had to be removed from the court in a wheelchair.
“The building was absolutely annoying.” Holly Rowe of Espn said “Many negative feelings. Some temperaments really shot in the hand line. People were annoyed by the injury and fans who went into it, really shouting.
Watkins is one of the most prominent stars in women’s basketball. Watkins was one of the faces of the tournament.
Through 34 games this season, Watkins promised 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 robberies and 1.6 blocks per game.
“I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t spoil me to see Juju on the floor crying,” said USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb. “This is a human game and, therefore, I did my best to be what I need to be for the team, but internally it is a lot.”
Although the Watkins injury will have a significant impact on the Trojan tournament, USC still managed to flee with the 96-59 victory to advance to Sweet 16.
But advancing, the loss of Watkins is expected to have important ramifications for the Trojans number 1.
“We will go to the elephant in the room, this is shit … I do not think it is hyperbolic to say that this not only changed the tenor of this game, but possibly the tournament,” Ell duncan of espn said during the broadcast.
With the victory, USC advances to assume the number 5 of Kansas State on March 31 at 9pm EDT.
