Jacoby Brissett has disappeared – Veteran signed with Arizona – And when week 1 turns, Foxborough’s fans will look at Maye to lift the Patriots Back to prosperity as a result of two seasons of 4-13.
In Mike Vrabel, New England hired a bone leader at the top of his organization. But to advance as contenders, Maye will also have to continue to grow in his leadership role.
The quarterback knows it. On Radio Row on Super Bowl, he repeatedly said that he wants to sharpen these leadership skills in a crucial year 2.
Vrabel returns to New England with 14 years of experience as a NFL player and another 12 years as a coach. He has seen different quarterbacks lift a locker room. Thus, in one of his first meetings with Maye, Vrabel made a point to deliver a message to his young quarterback.
“You just have to invest time,” Vrabel said. “ The most important thing is to be able to include everyone. When you include everyone, you know them. The quarterbacks have a lot of privilege in the city. They go to restaurants, go to games and said, “ Hey, you always remember that you can always invite other people who can be outside your immediate group and use them as experiences and know the players you may not know now. I think it was a good example.
Vrabel cited his own time with the most decorated quarterback in NFL history as proof.
“It’s something that felt like Tom (Brady) did and I don’t want to be like” Oh, Tom Brady, “Vrabel said.” I just say that the players I have been around were like: “We go to this game. Let’s go to the Celtics. But again, you better know someone, you can better do it. “
