At 3:14 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated Cold Weather Advisory until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday for Berkshire County.
The weather service adds: “Very cold wind gusts as low as 25 below.”
“Dangerous wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can cause hypothermia with prolonged exposure,” the weather service says. “Use caution when traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.”
