Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford is in talks for September, Mexican Independence Day, for Alvarez’s three super middleweight titles at 168, with no rehydration clause.
If the Canelo-Crawford fight comes to fruition, it could go unchallenged if Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs) faces IBF champion William Scales on Cinco de Mayo weekend in May. Canelo would be a heavy favorite against Scales to reclaim his IBF title.
Crawford has size
Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) walks around in the 170s, so it shouldn’t be a big deal for him to move up to 168 to challenge Canelo. The main problem Crawford will have is trying to win without going to war with Canelo. If Terrence is just going to box Canelo, according to Mayweather’s plan, as his trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre said he would, it won’t work in a decision.
Canelo punches so much harder than Crawford that even if he eats more punches, the judges will focus on the bigger punches. So Canelo beat Erislandi Lara, who is much bigger and stronger than Crawford, but didn’t have enough pop in his punches to win the decision.
We don’t know Crawford’s real reasoning for wanting the Canelo fight. He says it’s a “legacy” thing, but also mentions money and not wanting to move up to 168 to adjust in weight class. That’s fear on Crawford’s part. It only reveals that for him it is about money. I think this is just a fortune for him because if he really believed, he would have moved up to super middleweight to show that he can compete in this division by beating one or two of the top dogs.
Since he doesn’t, it’s abundantly clear that Crawford just wants a retirement payoff against Kane. That’s fine. You blame the crowd. If Turki is willing to give Crawford money, that’s up to him, but a lot of fans feel stupid and ripped off afterward for wasting their money on a Jermell Charlo 2.0 type mismatch. Crawford isn’t even as big or strong as Jermell. he’s definitely not as young as Jermell was when he fought Kanell, Terrance will be 38 band the time he fights Canelo in September.
So it doesn’t matter if they lose. It’s all for him for the rest of his life from the unearned earnings Crawford gets in his loss against Canelo. He can spend the rest of his life eating caviar and drinking from a glass with his own pinkie in the airspeaking with an affected fake upper-crust British accent in America’s super-rich society.
Keyshawn Crawford’s Crusade
“How much they count Terrence,” Keyshawn Davis said MillCity Booking on what he doesn’t agree with about fans’ perception of his gym buddy and close friend, Terence Crawford, who has no chance against Canelo Alvarez in September.
“How big Canelo is compared to Terence, and they’ll say he doesn’t stand a chance because of his size. You can box him and still knock him out,” Keyshawn said when asked if Crawford could knock out Canelo or if he would try to box his way to a decision win.
“Anyone can get a KO there.” I won’t count him out for knocking out Canelo, but he definitely gets the win by boxing him. Me, put me on that card in co-main. I don’t care, put me on that card. I’m going to be a world champion (Kishon hopes),” Davis said.
Keyshawn shouldn’t let his friendship with Crawford blind him from seeing the fight for who he is. He won’t knock out Canelo. He’ll be too busy running away from him after getting an early taste of his power. Crawford almost lost the last fight in his debut at 154 against Israil Madrimov on August 3 last year. His power didn’t increase from 147, and his face was beat up by the end of the fight. Madrimov messed him up, and he was lucky to get the decision because the bigger, cleaner, more effective shots were landed by the champion.

“Hey Turk (Al-Sheikh), put me on the card,” Keyshawn said, pleading with Turk to co-headline the Canelo vs. Crawford fight. “You know who I’d like to fight.” I would love to fight Isaac Cruz. I don’t know why. I just feel myself, and he would play great. I just feel like it would be an action packed fight. I would also like to fight ‘Raja’ (Jose Valenzuela). I feel like both of those guys always come to fight.”
It’s too late for Keyshawn to fight Isaac Cruz because he’s already fighting Ryan Garcia. He’s not going to fight Keyshawn and throw himself to the ground.
“I’d love to fight both of them, and they’re both at 140. We don’t have to fight for the belt,” Keyshawn said. “We could just fight.” Let’s just fight, and both have losses. So it’s not like they duck or run to avoid losing their Os. I sure don’t stoop to losing O (Note: Keyshawn refuses to fight Andy Cruz, who beat him four times). I just want to fight.
“Win, lose or draw, I’m making millions of dollars.” i don’t care I would love to fight those two guys for sure. I would love to fight those guys. Just action-packed combat. We both don’t give up and try to control the center of the ring. We’re both trying to come out ahead,” Keyshawn said when asked how the fight between him and 5’4″ Isaac Cruz will play out.
“I’m going to keep throwing them.” I’m not saying I’m going to fight this guy in the middle of the ring, bro. You saw me fight Miguel Maduen (using a lot of grappling, picking Maduen up, using a lot of pushing and rabbit punching) on my back the whole fight Some rounds I was going forward and some rounds (mostly) I was going backwards. “All I’m saying is (recently defeated) Isaac Cruz would be an action-packed fight and I feel like it would be great for boxing,” Davis said.
Keyshavn needs to put a sock in it. Isaac Cruz has bigger fish to fry, negotiating a mega-money fight against superstar Ryan Garcia on the Turki Al-Sheikh card in May in Times Square in Manhattan, New York. Cruz will waste no time on Keyshawn Davis, fighting for a change, and will likely wrestle an ugly, dirty fight all night.
If Keyhon is looking for a fight, he needs to find some courage and face his four-time conqueror Andy Cruz to try to avenge at least one of his losses against the talented Cuban. I don’t think Keyshawn will, but he needs to show that he’s not a fake.
No contracts have been signed yet, but Canelo Alvarez, boxing’s top star, and Terence Crawford are set to meet on Mexico’s Independence Day weekend in September, if everything pans out.
