Turki Al-Sheikh says he will talk to the recently retired Tyson Fury about his return. He says he wants to give away the ‘Gypsy King’ “for a while” to be with his family before discussing the fight with him.
Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) may still be unhappy about his recent loss to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on Dec. 21 in Riyadh. In his post-fight press conference, he was in full denial mode, refusing to accept that Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) had soundly beaten him in his 12-round unanimous decision win.
Childish Reaction
Tyson claimed that he won by three rounds, and many of his fans supported this fallacy by saying the same thing. Interestingly, Tyson also felt that he won the first fight with Usik. He just thinks the refs handled him and he’s bitter about it.
The retirement was a classic ‘Gypsy King’ reaction, as if to say, ‘You won’t have to beat me anymore.’ He’s in full soak mode passive-aggressive to punish the boxing world for not giving him a victory over Usik.
It’s so childish, but completely predictable from Fury. He wants his needs met by the victory he is given, and cannot accept defeat with a rigid upper limit like most mature adults. He can’t process defeat.
“First of all, this kind of decision must be made by the fighters. Of course, as a boxing fan, I don’t like him,” said Turki Al-Sheikh. talkSport Boxing on Tyson Fury’s retirement.
“We want to see Tyson in more big fights, but I understand his situation. You never know, this kind of decision can change over time. I will support him and discuss this with him. I’ll leave him with the family for a while, and then we can talk about it.
Luring Fury Back
Apparently, Fury will fight again. When the Turks waves millions under his death for the fight with joshua, he will come back and act like his old self. Tyson loves money too much not to go back and grab that money for AJ fights.
