Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder 17 years after he was fatally stabbed near a Bedford bus station, they said.
Thomas Taylor, 17, was attacked on Wednesday at 5.50pm by a group of men walking on Grenhill Road, near the city center station, officers said.
The Bedford Academy student was taken to hospital with serious injuries but was pronounced dead a short time later.
On Friday, a 17-year-old man and two 18-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody, Bedford police said.
A man in his 60s was arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
DI Richard Stott, leading the investigation at the major crime unit, said: “This is a particularly tragic case in which a teenage boy has lost his life as a result of violent crime and serious youth violence.
“We want to confirm to the wider community that officers are pursuing all lines of inquiry and are not increasing patrols in their area.”
He added: “We are continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident, or may have been brought to it.
“We are even more eager to talk to those who know what they are doing.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police citing Cimarron’s operations.
