Dr Agostinho Sousa, head of extreme events and health at UKHSA, said: “The predicted temperatures could have a serious impact on the health of some people, including those aged 65 and over and those with pre-existing health conditions, and it is therefore important to check on friends, family and neighbors who are most at risk.
“These people could be at greater risk of heart attack, stroke and chest infections as a result of the cold temperatures.”
