MGM Springfield launches Free Music Fridays concert series

SPRINGFIELD – MGM Springfield is looking to help ease the winter doldrums as it launches its Free Music Fridays series.

Free Music Friday @ MGM Springfield September 1, 2023

Aquanett had a blast on stage and the crowd enjoyed watching them as much as they enjoyed performing!

Complementing its summer concert cycle of the same name, the winter concerts are moved inside the Saló Aria to avoid the cold.

The free concerts will begin on January 31st at 7:30pm with 80s rock and metal tribute band Aquanett. Aquanett is “anchored by the sound of ’80s metal bands like Bon Jovi and Whitesnake,” and is described as “one of today’s most decadent and colorful tribute acts,” according to the group’s website.

In an interview with The Republican in February, Matthew Macri, the group’s bassist and harmony singer, told readers: “Whether you know a lot of ’80s rock music or not, whether you’ve seen big shows or not, you’re sure to have a good time, because we love putting in big shows for big audiences, and we give it our all.”

The Free Music Fridays winter concert series will continue on February 7 with Gold Dust Refugee, described on their website as “the only New England tribute band recreating the full Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty concert experience” .

Other concerts on the schedule include Trailer Trash, featuring modern country music, on February 14; The ’69 Show, featuring music from 1969 and Woodstock, on February 21; and Changes in Latitudes, a tribute show to Jimmey Buffett, on February 28.

Doors for each Free Music Fridays concert open at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the concerts is free and guests can purchase beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks before, during and after the show. Chandler Steakhouse, Costa, Tap Sports Bar and South End Market will be open for hungry concertgoers.
