The bodies of a British woman and her fiancé were found in separate rooms at a tourist village Vietnamsaid the police.
The victims have been named locally as Greta Marie Otteson, a 33-year-old Briton, and Arno Els Quinton, a 36-year-old African, who were staying at a complex in Hội An in central Quang Nam province.
The bodies were found in the village by police officers at 11.18am on 26 December.
According to media reports, Otteson’s body was found in his bed on the first floor, while Quinton was found in the same location in another bedroom.
A forensic examination showed no evidence of trauma or physical violence and no signs of a break in the VnExpress site were reported.
Both victims have registered for long-term residence in the town of Tornacensi since July 4 of last year.
Investigators noted the presence of several used alcohol bottles at the scene.
Otteson was a social media marketing manager who had previously worked in Dubai while Quinton had worked as a barista.
A spokesman for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said on Thursday: “We are supporting the family of the British woman who died in Vietnam and are liaising with the local authorities.”
