Richardson Hitchins is confident of dethroning IBF light heavyweight champion Liam Parro in 12 rounds on Saturday night at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Paro (25-0, 15 KOs) was nervous throughout the showdown, shoving challenger Hitchins at Thursday’s final press conference. Hitchins hit back at the Australian, Parra, by pushing him hard and looking like he was ready to throw. You could see the concern on Par’s face during that exchange. He looked scared.
It’s understandable why Paro would be upset as this is easily the best fighter he’s ever faced in his eight-year pro career. Paro wouldn’t even be here if the referee who officiated his last fight against the IBF 140lb champion Subriel Mathias did his job by punishing him for his rough tactics or their fight on June 15th.
Paro is expected to resort to the same bag of tricks against Hitchins, hoping the referee isn’t on his JOB, deducting him points for turning that fight into a WWE type match.
Hitchins promoted by Eddie Hearn is a better version Shakur Stevensonone with strength, aggression and courage. Hitchins is an improved version of Shakur, and that kind of fighter is a nightmare for Paro or any regular type of fighter coming forward.
Hitchin is seeking the IBF gold belt
“All he’s going to do is step up.” He’s got the boxing skills but he’s going to step up,” Richardson Hitchins told Fighthippe, referring to Liam Parr after their clash during the final press conference on Thursday.
“The last guy I fought was super predictable. This guy (Paro) has boxing ability. He can think with me and adapt. That’s how he beats most guys. “I’m always looking to make a statement,” Hitchins said.
“The guy is confident. He defeated Mathias. I’m a winner,” Richardson said when asked how he sees his fight with IBF light heavyweight champion Parr this Saturday night. “He might be better than me at hockey, but he’s not better than me at boxing.”
Eddie Hearn is promoting both of these guys, but with the glowing way he’s been talking about Parr in interviews this week, he seems to be favoring him over Hitchins. If Paro wins, Hearn can match him against George Kambossos Jr in a stadium fight in Australia, and that would fill him up. The number of pay-per-views from the Aussie market would be huge.
There’s a lot of money to be made in the Paro vs. Kambosos fight, which wouldn’t be there if Hitchins was the one facing Kambosos. As we saw when Devin Hanney schooled Kambos twice, he can’t handle talented boxers. Hitchins would be pure kryptonite for Kambos, and he would defeat the whole purpose of Hearn signing a bit ‘The Emperor’ to your stable Matchroom.
