After a storm dumped more than 6 inches of snow on parts of Massachusetts overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning, residents can expect some relief from the precipitation, but not the frigid, freezing temperatures that brought it .
Windy conditions will continue Friday, with gusts approaching 35 mph. Those winds will combine with an already cold air mass that has carried highs in the 30s to create temperatures in the 20s or teens, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Saturday will be much the same, although forecasters say there is a chance for a few scattered high-altitude showers. But the gusts are unlikely to have much of an impact, forecasters say.
A few snow showers in the northern part of the state are possible Saturday night, but likely won’t lead to any snow accumulation.
It is the beginning of the working week when a real relief comes. Highs Monday and Tuesday are expected to be in the 40s and 50s.
The forecast in Boston calls for a high of 47 degrees on Monday and a high of 50 degrees on Tuesday. It will be cooler in Worcester and Springfield, with highs in the low 50s both days.
