Fabian Lysell will have to wait to play his second NHL game.
The Boston Bruins announced they assigned the forward to Providence on Sunday, a day later Lysell made his NHL debut.
Lysell was called up from the AHL hours earlier Boston’s 4-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. He logged 11:32 of ice time and made a nice play on Justin Brazeau’s first period goal at 2:29 of the game.
Although Lysell didn’t show up on the stat sheet, he had an overall solid debut.
“I thought he handled himself well. Obviously, it’s an exciting night for him, his family. He was on the ice for the first goal, which is always a good feeling,” interim coach Joe Sacco told reporters afterward of Saturday’s game. “And then he did some good things. He was very responsible. He was trying to be very responsible away from the puck. You could tell he was making a conscious effort to be good without the puck, and those are the things he needs to continue to incorporate into his game. But I thought he handled himself well tonight for his first game.”
Lysell will now return to Providence, where he has 17 points in 26 games.
