Promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed that he is in talks to host the Golden Boy Promotions – Matchroom Boxing 5 vs. 5 in 2025.
This would be a contest for De La Hoya to match his top five Golden Boy fighters against Eddie Hearn’s top five guys available. Two fighters will compete to prove who has the best guys.
Golden Boy-Matchroom Showdown
“We’re continuing to have discussions and we’re getting ready to do some big things in 2025,” said Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya Fight Hub TV about planning a 5v5 with Eddie Hearn at Matchroom Boxing next year.

Edgar Berlanga or Diego Pacheco vs. Bektemir Melikuziev
Jay Opetaia vs Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez
Ernesto Mercado vs. Oscar Duarte

De La Hoya already has one of his fighters, Floyd Schofield Jr., challenging Hearn’s fighter, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, on Feb. 22 at the Turki Al-Sheikh tournament in Riyadh. Oscar is confident that Schofield will upset Shakur in that fight.
