Donald Trump greeted H-1B visa program for skilled workers as “excellent” claiming that he had always favored them.
I’m talking to New York Postthe president-elect sided with two of his top lieutenants, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamyafter both defended the need to hire workers from abroad in technology, engineering and other sectors.
Ramaswamy, who will co-head with Musk an outside commission known as the Department of Government Efficiency, blamed 1990s sitcoms for emphasizing the wrong values of American workers.
“A culture that celebrates the prom queen instead of the Math Olympiad champion, or the joker instead of the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers,” he wrote in a post on X.
“There is a persistent shortage of great engineering talent,” Musk wrote on Wednesday X. “It’s the fundamental limiting factor in Silicon Valley.”
“The number of people who are super talented engineers AND super motivated in the US is too small,” he later said added.
Their statements drew pushback from “America First” hardliners, including Steve Bannon. They want strict immigration controls and a fierce war of words that has erupted on social media.
“Something great” about Trump wanting to make Canada the 51st country, says Shark Tank star
Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary praised the newly elected president Donald Trump continuing fascination with annexation Canada as an American state, saying there was “something great” about it because it would form “the most powerful country in the world”.
Having spent ridicule over the past few weeks Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offering him to become the “governor” of the “51st state”, the future president upped the ante with a Christmas message to the United States’ neighbor to the north. In addition to recommending that hockey great Wayne Gretzky run for “governor of Canada,” Trump also claimed that Canadians’ taxes would drop massively if they joined the American union.

As MAGA seeks to eliminate federal programs, more Americans believe that health care is the government’s responsibility
In 2013, during the rollout of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, that number dropped to 42 percent. Back in 2006, it was 69 percent.
The annual survey on health and healthcare was conducted between November 6 and 20. The same survey showed that fewer Americans positively evaluate the coverage and quality of health care in the US.

Yellen warns that Congress will need “extraordinary measures” to prevent the US from reaching the debt limit
Treasury secretary Janet Yellen said her agency would have to begin taking “emergency measures” or special accounting maneuvers aimed at preventing the nation from reaching the debt ceiling as early as Jan. 14, in a letter to congressional leaders Friday afternoon.
“The Treasury expects to reach the statutory debt limit between January 14 and January 23,” Yellen wrote in a letter to the House and Senate leadership, at which point emergency measures would be used to prevent the government from breaching the national debt ceiling — which is suspended until January 1, 2025.
The department has in the past used what are known as “emergency measures” or accounting maneuvers to keep the government running. But when those measures expire, the government risks defaulting on its debt unless lawmakers and the president agree to lift limits on the U.S. government’s ability to borrow.
“I respectfully urge Congress to act to protect the full faith and credit of the United States,” she said.

ICYMI: Trump claims victory over border wall
Donald Trump is claiming victory after a judge ruled that the Biden administration must turn over purchase records representing the $1.4 billion Congress appropriated to build a wall on the border with Mexico, a federal judge in Texas said Friday.
The records will help track materials that Texas claims the federal government auctioned off in violation of a court order, Bloomberg Law reports.
Judge Drew Tipton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, a Trump appointee, requested the records at the end of a virtual hearing requested by Texas to determine whether the federal government illegally disposed of wall material in anticipation of Trump’s re-election.
The President-elect wrote on Truth Social:
ISSUE: In a major, key WIN for America and our national security, a federal judge in Texas, based on documents we filed just days ago, has BANNED the Biden administration from selling any materials intended for the border wall, which was destroyed by Biden and his friends, and which I will rebuild to protect our country from violent migrant crime, fentanyl smuggling, sex trafficking, terrorist attacks, and other heinous, nation-ending disasters. The judge also ordered an investigation into the illegal sale of the materials, which will reveal how corrupt and anti-American the radical Democrats are. I am honored to be joined in this vital case by the Great States of Texas and Missouri, and I applaud Judge Drew Tipton for doing the right thing for our country. We must protect our borders and save America. MAGA!

ICYMI: Laura Loomer lays on Elon Musk and loses her blue check to X
Another burst was fired into the ongoing MAGA civil war it played out online between “America First” hardliners and Silicon Valley oligarchs who support Trump over the immigrant worker visa program — and now Elon Musk was accused of personally punishing his critics.
Laura Loomer and other far-right activists who railed against the owner of X (formerly Twitter) and his DOGE co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy for supporting the H-1B visa and criticizing American work culture, allege that Musk removed their X verification badges and the ability to monetize their accounts in an act of retaliation.
