Thousands of people flee the city Syriac city Homs overnight and in the morning of Friday, the war monitor and the population said that the rebel forces sought to bring their lightning strikes against the government forces further south.

• Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he plans to hold talks on Friday with Turkish and Iranian ministers about the situation in Syria. On Thursday, Lavrov said Moscow was “very concerned” with the recent escalation of violence in Syria.
