Scrubs reboot cast, plot and returning stars as it gets green light 15 years later

A Restart of Scrubs arrives on our screens and here you have everything you need to know about the next series so far.

A green light has been given to the Scrubs revival, receiving a direct order after the main actor Zach Braff signed earlier this year.

The original NBC police station, set at Sacred Heart Hospital, followed the daily life of JD medical interns (Zach Braff), Turk (Donald Faison) and Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), as well as other hospital staff.

The rubbing worked initially for seven seasons, completed in 2008, before being revived for two more seasons in ABC, finally ending in 2010.

Now, Scrubs will return with a restart, with the original stars Faison and Chalke next to Braff, who committed to the project in May.

However, discussions continue to whether Judy Reyes, who interpreted the nurse Cap Carla Espinosa, can join the cast.

Reyes is currently starring in the ABC High Potential series, but according to the deadline, “there have been positive programming conversations” about the accommodation of their participation in both shows.

The renewed scrubs will follow JD and Turk, as “they rub together for the first time in a long time”.

The synopsis continues: “Medicine has changed, the inmates have changed, but their bromance has been the test of time.

“The new and old characters sail through the waters of the sacred heart with laughter, choir and some surprises along the way.”

Although an official date of the premiere has not been announced, the show is scheduled for the ABC 2025-2026 season, with a mid-season debut.

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence recently revealed that the next comedy will be a hybrid “between a Renaissance, reviewing original characters … and a restart, returning the original concept with the new surgical inmates”

In a conversation with the deadline, Lawrence explained: “We have been talking a lot and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo.

“A: People who want to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, who are part of any successful restart.

“But B: I think the show always worked because you see that young people fell into the world of medicine, knowing that the young people who go there are super idealists and they do it because it is a call.

“There is no cliché” rich doctors playing golf, “this is no longer what it is.

“So I think, regardless of the way it is done, it would be a colossal mistake not to address it as a synthesis of these two elements.”

He added: “Scrubs means a lot to me. So excited for the opportunity to meet the band again.”
