Sun relinquish early lead, starts West Coast trip with loss in Seattle



Seattle (AP) -Gabby Williams scored 18 points, including a 3-Punter with 6:10 remaining, to put the Seattle storm for a 79-65 victory against the Sun of Connecticut on Friday night.

Williams’ shot gave the storm (13-8) a 63-62 lead and started a 19-3 race. The storm beat the sun 24-13 in the fourth quarter.

Nneka Ogwumike encrypted 16 points, while Skylar Diggins and Ezi Magbegor added 14 points for Seattle.

Tina Charles LED Connecticut (3-17) with 20 points. The Saniya rivers had 12 points, while Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Leila Lacan scored 10 each.

The strong end was necessary, considering that the storm started at a lens. Seattle surpassed 16-10 after the first quarter thanks to the cheeky shooting. The storm turned only 23.5% of its traits into the opening frame, while the connecticut striker, Charles scored eight of its 20 points in the fourth.

The storm was reduced to its deficit and even made a 29-28 lead to the 1:57 mark in the second quarter in a 14-foot jump from Erica Wheeler.

The teams exchanged leadership for much of the second and third quarter before Seattle retired to the fourth.

The sun will continue with its fast road trip Sunday against the sparks of Los Angeles. In the meantime, the storm will continue their domestic home when Washington’s Mysticals are welcoming.
