New ‘sponge’ cancer test to be trialled in high-street pharmacies

Hundreds of people who have a permanent gocci Reflux acid will soon be offered a “sponge“Testing in pharmacies with high street pharmacies.

NHS England It pilates a new way of preventing Oesophageal cancer identifying individuals called Barrett’s esophagus, which occurs when gastric acid is damaged by an esophage or food coverage.

Some cells can grow abnormally and then develop in uesophageal cancer.

From the beginning next yearabout 1,500 people in London and East Midlands will participate in these new “Heartburm Health Checks” for testing Barrett’s esophagus.

During the test, the patient swallows a small capsule attached to the array. The capsule dissolves in the stomach and leaves a small sponge about the size of the coin 1p.

After a few minutes, the sponge is dragged over a series of NHS after a few minutes, during which time collects cells from the Oesophageal trim for analysis in the laboratory.

This test is already used in hospitals and diagnostic centers in the community to reduce the need for invasive endoscopies in Barrett’s patients.

During the pilot, pharmacists will work on spotting patients who regularly use drugs over the prescription to facilitate the cardiac, but who did not seek help from their GP.

The pilot will take two years before it potentially pulls out the wider.

Professor Peter Johnson, National Director of the NHS cancer, “New Pilot brings a suitable test on which people are buying, making it easier than ever to check the signs and symptoms that might concern.”

“For most people with permanent reflux, these fast and simple health checks will provide peace that you are not in increasing the risk of cancer, and for those who will find out, Barrett’s Esophagus will be established to be reset early.”

If pre-cancerous cells are found, the treatment of cell removal can be offered through endoscopy or procedure known as radio frequency starring.

From almost 10,000 patients were diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer in the UK each year, 80 percent is diagnosed at the latency.

Only one of five people survives a year, which means that the early diagnosis is key.

Eddie, at the age of 77, says the test may have saved his life after years of persistent throat.

He said, “Sometimes he woke me up at night, but I always thought it was just one of those things.

“To think that something simply as swallowing the capsule could reveal hidden risk is really outstanding.

“The test was quick, simple, and completely changed as I think about my health.

“Knowing that I have Barrett’s esophagus I meant I was a priority, my condition and as a result, my dysplasia (cell changes) was caught early.

“I’m now able to target treatment to stop making a state progress in cancer, not to find out when it’s too late.

“It would never be caught that there was no capsule testing. This test gave me peace of mind and access to early treatment and I could differ between life and death for so many other others.”

The NHS teamed boots and the diagnostic company Chited Health for the pilot, with the cancer of the heartbone in the UK.
