Canadian man held by immigration officials dies in South Florida federal facility, officials say

The Canadian man who keeps immigration officials in southern Florida died in federal custody, officials said.
Johnny Novoello, 49, died on Monday afternoon at the Bureau for the Federal Detention Center in prison in MiamiAmerican immigration and customs communications were told. The cause of death was under investigation.
Novelo was detained for delivery from the United States, officials said. He entered the US in 1988. on the legal visa and became the lawful permanent resident of 1991. years. He was convicted of drug trafficking and other charges in 2023. and sentenced to the year in prison, officials said.
The Novelo picked up the ice agents in his probation office last month and accused the removal of his conviction on drugs, authorities said.
Seven other immigration detainees died in the federal custody of this year, with 11 hours registered in 2024. years.
