Boulder, colo. (AP) – Several people were injured and some could have been burned down in an outdoor mall of Boulder, Colorado, said the police. Police said that a man was taken in prison in the attack that the FBI immediately described as a “directed terror attack.”
Boulder’s police chief Steve Redfearn told journalists on Sunday evening that it was too early to discuss a reason, but that witnesses were interviewed.
“It would be irresponsible for me to speculate about the reason so soon,” he said.
The attack took place at a pedestrian shopping center where protesters had gathered to ask for the release of hostages remaining in Gaza.
“Our agents and the application of local law are already on staging and we will share updates as more information is available,” said FBI director Kash Patel on social networks.
Boulder’s police said there were “several victims” in the attack. Redfearn said that the injury authorities found with the reports of people who had burned down.
According to police, several blocks of the typically popular pedestrian shopping center were evacuated.
Colorado governor Jared Polis said in a statement that he was “supervising the situation closely” and added that “the full hate acts of any kind are unacceptable.”
Boulder’s attack came as the United States police authorities are in a sharp spike in anti -Semitic violence and just over a week after a man was arrested by accusations in the fatal shootout of two Israeli embassy employees and called “free Palestine” when police were left by police.
