East Longmeadow – East Longmeadow’s lacrosse launched its state tournament campaign with a performance that left little doubts about its intentions of the later season.
The Spartans no.
The victory advances East Longmeadow to the 16 round, where they will face the winner of the Monday match between Wakefield number 8 and 25 Ashland.
“Due to the energy rankings, it seems that it will be a very good game, if you go for its number,” said Dan Reid, coach of East Longmeadow. “We’re excited [if we] Get out -but it would really be happier if Ashland comes here, but we will know. “”
Twelve different players contributed points in East Longmeadow’s commander, led by Junior Jake Robidoux, who reached four goals and two assists. Zach Sares and Brayden McCarthy each added three goals and three assists, while Fox collided with two goals and two assists, as the Spartans kept the Blue Devils non -stop for the last 16 more minutes.
“He was only helping the team in any way he could, either on the offense, working on the face, only assistant in any way he can,” said Robidoux. “I am always a first -team team.”
Through two -quarters, East Longmeadow looked like a team on a mission, with their views firmly fixed in the 16 round, where it ended its season a year ago.
The Spartans fired in the first half, achieving a dominant performance at both ends of the field to get a 9-1 advantage over Northampton at halftime.
Robidoux set the tone soon, opening the score to the first quarter. At halftime, he had scored four goals and assistance.
Northampton’s Lone Spark reached only 46 seconds in the second quarter when Nick Biddle buried a goal to reduce the 2-1 score. But any impulse was short -lived: McCarthy scored nine seconds after the face, kicking a seven -goal career.
The Offensa of the Spartans fired on all cylinders, with contributions from Sares, Fox, Robidoux and McCarthy. In the meantime, his defense suffocated Northampton’s attack, limiting the dominant earth eyes and balls.
East Longmeadow seemed even more dominant in the second half.
The Spartans opened the third quarter with seized goals only 14 seconds away from McCarthy and Ryan Quigley. McCarthy quickly completed his Hat Trick, while Sares added his third goal of the day at the end of the fourth to stretch the lead to 14-2.
The fourth quarter was more of the same: quick, clean and clinical execution of East Longmeadow. Jake Miller and Quigley addressed two more goals, and the Spartans won an 18-2 emphatic victory in their 32-openings round.
